Tips to help get through yet another snow storm!

So you have found yourself living through snow storm #7293 and can't get to the gym, can't keep the momentum of the healthy habits that you started off the new year with, and are about to lose it?! You are not alone! Things like; the weather, school and road closures, sickness in the family - are all outside of your control. This can feel absolutely soul crushing and frustrating. You have a choice though- either focus on what is outside of your control and be a victim of your situation OR take charge and make impact where you can. Here are some ways that can help:


  1. Come to peace with the snow. It is not going anywhere anytime soon so this is one of those things outside of your control.

  2. Use clearing snow as a way to get moving- change your mindset from 'EEERRRR, I have to do this AGAIN?' to 'Sweet, lets get a good arm pump'. The mind is a powerful tool and they way you view things can have profound effect on your overall wellbeing.

  3. Get a workout in. Working out has such a great impact on your physical and mental health. Don't have any equipment? not too worry. You can use your own body to reap the same benefits. Give this a try; *Bonus Points if you are completing the Push up Challenge and need to get your push ups in today!

    1. 5-10 rounds of

      10 push ups - Use a counter top if needed 10 Squats- Use a chair to sit and stand if needed 10 v snaps -On your back, raise your arms and legs at the same time to touch your toes - bend your knees if needed

  4. Do the things that are INSIDE your control. You control how much water to drink. You can control prioritizing your protein intake. You can control moving your body.

  5. Reach out to a neighbour who may be having difficulties—human connection is powerful. This period can be especially isolating for those unable to leave their homes or who are caregiving. Bringing joy to someone else's day can also illuminate yours! Where ever you have found yourself during these snow storms, we hope that you stay safe!
